Mother's Day is a time to honour and appreciate the incredible efforts of mothers and mother figures everywhere. Recognising that many mums often find themselves managing household chores, even on their special day.
Morrisons has introduced a thoughtful initiative to make their shopping experience more enjoyable.
Mother’s Day this Sunday 30th March, Morrisons will open dedicated "Mums' Lanes" across all 497 of their stores nationwide. These special checkouts are designed to provide Mums with a quicker and more pleasant shopping experience. Each "Mums' Lane" will be marked with signage and staffed by friendly Customer Assistants who will tailor the checkout process to suit individual preferences - whether that means a leisurely pace with friendly conversation or a swift transaction for those in a hurry. Additionally, assistants will help with packing groceries, ensuring that mums can easily navigate their shopping.
To further enhance the experience, Morrisons will distribute nearly 50,000 boxes of Guylian chocolates to mums at these dedicated checkouts. This sweet gesture aims to bring a smile to faces and add a touch of indulgence to their day. Staff will also engage with children accompanying their mums, involving them in fun activities like identifying different supermarket products or getting a behind-the-scenes look at how the tills operate. These efforts are designed to make the shopping trip enjoyable for the whole family.
Gareth Lloyd, Head of Marketing Events at Morrisons, highlighted the motivation behind this initiative: "The reality is that many mums still end up doing chores like the weekly shop on Mother's Day - even though it is supposed to be the day that they are spoiled! Therefore, we've launched Mums' Lanes in stores to give a little something back”
Beyond the "Mums' Lanes," Morrisons is offering additional rewards for customers purchasing gifts for Mother's Day. Items such as The Best chocolates, fudge, and products from the Market Street Cakes will earn More Card members 50 points, with an opportunity to collect 500 points when buying Giant Cookies. These incentives provide a delightful way for shoppers to treat their mums while also enjoying some perks themselves.
This initiative reflects Morrisons' commitment to acknowledging and celebrating the hard work of mothers and mother figures. By creating a more relaxed and rewarding shopping environment, Morrisons hopes to make Mother's Day a bit more special for mums across the UK.
