The famous Chester Cheetah is going VR as the brand launches Chesterville, a VR town in time for Halloween.
The PepsiCo and Frito-Lay owned brand is giving customers their chance to experience a spooky interactive town called Chesterville in the metaverse where they can immerse themselves in the town and complete challenges in virtual reality building up their mischief meter’ to gain entry into the spooky mansion on the hill to have the chance to bring back a forgotten favourite flavour in the real world.
The flavours include Cheetos Flamin' Hot Chipotle Ranch, Cheetos Flamin' Hot Pepper Puffs, or Cheetos Nashville Hot snacks.
Users will be able to traverse the town as they please, TP the area with Cheetos paper towels, trap other players with Mac-O-Lanterns and even use a wand to graffiti up the neighbourhood.
Although PepsiCo and Frito-Lay have ventured into the MetaVerse before with Doritos to promote the season four of the popular Netflix show Stranger Things, this is a first for Cheetos and Chester the Cheetah.
“As a culture-first brand committed to innovative consumer experiences, Cheetos is proud to lead Frito-Lay into the metaverse….This is a significant moment for both the brand and the portfolio as we broaden the ways we engage with fans, inviting them to experience Cheetos in an entirely new way.
We can't wait to welcome consumers into Chester's virtual domain that brings his personality and Cheetos' brand ethos to life."- Stacy Taffet, senior VP of marketing for Frito-Lay
“The brand is actually about bringing playful mischief to life, so when we thought about when to enter the Metaverse,
we thought a really fun time would be Halloween because it allows us to bring the spirit of the brand to life in a way that will add value in the metaverse environment.”- Stacy Taffet
